There's a line in the book that said, you can learn to eat violence. The way that that intersects with violence that is sexual and uncontrollable was an important one for me to give to ruth. I didn't include on the page, you know, any disappointmentruth felt about being ignored or disappointed by her bully. But she does. Andsh says, i knew that on some level he liked me.
