Alchemil of Olgares is known as Ladies Mantle but my favourite Scottish regional name for it is Elf Shot. If a farmer's cow was unwell it might be down to the fairies who had shot at the cow with one of their flint arrowheads. The elf doctor would have to be called and his medicine for the cow would be Ladies Mantle Plant steeped in water from three parishes with a flint arrowhead thrown in for good measure.
