Should an Elder Lead the Service?

Theologically to rule out the must, it's an ordinance celebrated by the whole congregation. We see in scripture gatherings of Christians called churches before they had elders. So maybe it's an instance where a group of believers have banded together and they don't yet have a single elder. They should be celebrating the Lord's Supper. But I think I don't think that should hinder them at all.
