What Is It That Putin Is Unhappy About?
Russia has never enjoyed greater security on its western border than it has since the end of the Cold War. Putin is worried about the risk to Russia's ability to exert hegemonic dominance in its own region, which is what Russia has historically done. China can be and is a great power. It doesn't need to invade Taiwan or become the regional hegemon of East Asia - it's doing fine. I don't believe we should be cutting, we should be trying to starve China to death.
