The Importance of Punishment for Abortion

There's no moral fact about what specific punishment the state has to meet out for every crime. This is something the legal system manages on a case-by-case basis given circumstances of the crime and prevailing attitudes in society toward the crime. And there's nothing inconsistent in pro-lifers wanting to protect the unborn, but advocating for less harsh punishments for abortion than for other homicides.
