In anatomy of the state, you've got, as you said, making or taking. And that's always the choice. If i can actually oppress while being viewed as the oppressed, i can somehow cheat the system and acquire wealth through the second means. I think setting that up at the outset, i guess, sets the frame and the tone for what the rest of the book is going to be - which is a attempt to provide a consistent argument for organization that revolves around the making instead of the taking.
