Nittish: The 48-hour blackout was in response and anticipation of changes to the site. He says users were upset that Reddit would now be charging access for its API, which is the application programming interface. Nittish: A lot of moderators were really upset because he hadn't been like transparent with them about new moderation tools or updates to the website.
