In the early stages, you've got neutrophils that are drawn to the LVI basically to attend to those invading bacteria. And this happens at the behest of cytokines, including things like IL-8. There is also a tendon edema and fibrin and red blood cells and desquimated epithelial cells. This is what you see over the first kind of one to four days of a bacterial pneumonia.
