Getting Better at Self-Regulation
As we do this, we strengthen the circuits in our prefrontal cortex. That alone starts to help us get better at self-regulating. As long as it's inside of you, feeling how your chest or belly is moving up and down,. You can even feel what your facial muscles are doing and then very likely we're going to get drawn back out again. The other mechanism for having more maturity, complexity, and self-regulation in terms of our behaviors and our communication is to increase our complexity of understanding.
