The Angry Wives and Mothers of Paris
Some six or seven thousand angry women suddenly started congregating outside the hotel de ville. The officer in charge of the national guard was about to order his men to try to do something about all this when he was bluntly told, look sir, we're not going to fire on these ladies,. So the angry wives and mothers of paris were allowed to just carry on as they pleased. It actually got to the point where the women were about to light the hote deville on fire. They decided instead to go after the less well defended, and hopefully more open to reason, national assembly.
