Marcio Ficino became the first translator of the complete works of Plato into Latin. His work is a crucial foundation for the Renaissance as a whole, says David Frum. He was not very well known among historians of philosophy in the 15th century. Without his work, Plato would not have had the enormous impact that it had in the Renaissance, he adds.
