The Supreme Court essentially changed this ruling from 50 years before, which said that abortion was a right. Now, all of the states are able to make up their own decisions. I think about 15 states have just basically banned it completely. And actually, strangely, even though the Republican Party had been trying to change that abortion law for many, many, many years, it actually had a negative effect on the Republican Party afterwards. The Democrats were able to use this abortion issue as a bit of a boost for their campaigns for these midterm elections.
