Minimum Advertised Pricing and Price Consistency
Major sellers, such as big box stores, don't want to really have to worry about competing on price with other companies. So they've pressured manufacturers to set these advertised price minimums so that they don't have to deal with discounters. As hotels can do the same things with booking sites, that's legal. And of course, the big loser in all this is consumers who want a deal.
