The Language of the Sixties
Language was very titonica point theh haa ha, a ha. Jossin to do with those gradations of class. She would have burst into flames if you'd said serviet instead of napkin. It started with begonias and went through any anglicized french word. You had to pronounce words in a way that was difficult. So instead of hospitable, you had to say hospitableand instead of controversy, you had say, Controversy. All of those things she just could not manage to get past when it came to her relationships with the outside world.
