This was based on Sorkin's 1989 play directed by Rob Ryan. Kevin Bacon and Keith for Sutherland were both like, "Oh, that's what it means to be a movie star" There is a smoking gun in the play, but there is no smoking gun in this film. William Goldman came up with the idea for the flight logs.
