The Darwin Machine

Boyd says that our Proclivity for Art is another Darwin machine. It's an evolutionary subsystem which is effectively designed in this case to create creativity. And the brain and art in particular is a Darwin machine that produces the ability to be creative. But he hasn't explained, he hasn't given reasons for this yet. That's just his thesis. So you need blind variation and selective retention because imagination is unstable - it can irretrievable. Boyd: "Art allows the creativity to be retained in an external form"
