What Types of Patients Should Be Considered for Dialysis?
The rate of GFR decline becomes very important, and now with systems like EPIC or other EMRs. Once a patient gets to CKD 4, which is a GFR between 15 and 30, that's probably when we may start putting it in the patient's mind. 20 is also a really important marker because 20 is one you can get on the transplant list. optimally when a person's at 20, before they start dialysis, we can start referring them to a transplant center for evaluation.
