The Palant Hair Sex Ambition
The palant hair sex ambition features around 120 works from Gwen John's early days at the Slade Art School. She went there in 1895 to some of the religiously themed work she made later at Mirdon, her home near Paris. The art critics Ben Luke and Hetty Judah are joining me now to review that show. It wants to reshape our perceptions. Does it do it successfully? I feel that in a way Alicia’s book does it more successfully because we have this extraordinary relationship that she builds up between Gwen John and Rodin. That comes out in these amazing erotic letters that she writes which was a complete revelation to me.
