Some people make a big mistake of doing too much mileage, run into some over use injuries in their training programme. So i think interval training certainly can have a place there. But unless you're going to be the type of runner that they tell stories about in 50 years it's probably not the default style that you want to take. That does remind me, though, of the idea of doing all those repeats.
