Slowing Down AI Progress
One kind of intervention that comes up is like labs agreeing to not train or release the next large language model as suggested by this FLI letter. And a concern there is that the thing that actually matters for AI progress is basically how much hardware there is or how cheap it is. So maybe it's bad in that way and yeahmaybe it's bad because you don't know what's happening. I've heard having about this a different kind of one is like if you slowed down releasing things that sort of changes how much money the different companies have.
