The Premier League's Financial Powerhouse
The Premier League has been until now the undisputed financial powerhouse of football. It's grown to the point where even your bog standard Premier League player is out of reach of most European clubs. The wages in the Premier League are so disconnected from the wages that you get at other European clubs, apart from some of the big ones. Once you start going down the leagues, they can't afford to pay those wages. But generally, when a Premier League club wants a player from Spain or France or Germany or Italy, again, beyond the very top clubs, they have the financial power to do that and make the offers that are difficult to turn down.
