The Power of Symbols

Rome was seen as having a God given destiny to rule the whole world. Zeus asserts through Virgil that the destiny of Rome is to bring the whole world under laws dominion. The gods would bestow gifts to humanity through Rome, including security and peace. And so it wasn't just that Rome was destined according to its public story to rule the world, but what it brought to the world was security, stability and peace.
