CHAPTER

How Does the Urge to Breathe Come From Carbon Dioxide?

80% of the urge to breathe comes from CO2 and 20% comes from low oxygen. Your diaphragm, unless you're a free diver who's trains or a competitive free diver, got stretched in way that it has never been stretched before. That's why every competitive free diver on the planet stretches their diaphagm as much as they can. There's a lot of stuff that happens when people go down more than 15 feet but most people don't know about it. And I'm always trying to make sure we understand what is going on with our bodies because some things are just not understood.
