The Failure of the Intelligence Service
When was the point that we realized there were no weapons of mass destruction, asks Gordon Brown. The intelligence chiefs at the time who did say we think this stuff is there so they were telling the politicians and Tony Blair's defense is you know I was told by my intelligence chiefs that you know and reassured they existed. But then ultimately the intelligence service end up withdrawing their sources after the war they kind of evaporate. In my mind that is a really significant intelligence failure because it was one of them who's kind of consequential decisions that's been taken and intelligence played a part in it.
