The Importance of Divine Providence

Simon Benzima Duran was a rabbi and legal scholar of Spain who opposed rationalist developments within Jewish philosophy. In his ethical work on the duties of the heart, he adopted a view on human suffering much like that of Sadia Ghan. For him, it shows a righteous man accepting the suffering that has been inflicted upon him. The mere fact of embodiment which makes it possible for us to suffer is a test sent to humankind by God.
