How to Help a Recommendation Writer Explain a Hard Major

Miriam, I have a colleague at HLS who always reads the letters of recommendation first when he picks up a file that's the first thing he does. Another colleague just swears by finishing up the file read with the letters of recommendations. You can really prompt them to explain those things for us and say, you know, if you don't explain it, I don't think they'll understand. Most recommenders are very happy to do that.
