Am I the One That Romanticized Being a Hard Bited Journalist?

He writes all these short stories that later become movies, the caper movie, lady for a day as based on his book. He always wroteabout colorful gangsters with names like harry the horse and barely there benny. And he knew actual mobsters but i don't think they talked like that. I'm just starting to sit here thinking, is he the one that romanticized being a hard bitten journalist? That affected me so much growing up in wanting to be that character,. But writing smart, tough, hard bitten n exposes type of thing.
