The Importance of Alcohol in Catholic Moral Life
The pungent odor wafting through our streets is evidence of that. I think it's difficult to discuss those things that are present in front of us because immediately people respond as if condemned or can't imagine things other than they are. There's a real mysticism that flows from wine in the church because God uses this token of ordinary table fellowship and nourishment to provide us with the divine fellowship and graced nourishment, which our hearts are desperately longs for. Whereas with weed, we typically associate it with a kind of pseudo mysticism where spaced out dudes recline on couches and describe the dancing mushroom fairy boot princesses who are like dancing about their heads.
