Rontierism is the economic activity of earning rent. A rontier is an entity whose income is dominated by rent. The vast bulk of rent generating assets are not owned by individuals or households, they are owned by companies. So if you have an economic situation in which rent has become overwhelmingly important then that's what i refer to as a rontier economy.
