The idea of being able to identify people and groups who are involved in crime is the beginning of this social network analysis. In LA, they have this thing called the chronic offenders. It's kind of like the people on the heat list. You're based on your high score and your score doesn't, I wouldn't call it an algorithmously, just math. And one of the flaws, of course, is that if you have a high score, police contact you, which gives you an extra point on your score.
