Texas' Role in the History of Slavery

Texas' independence was driven in no small part by a desire to escape and abolitionist Mexico quickly developed a major slave trade with Cuba. The lone star on the flags of both was more than coincidental for the astonishing increase in Cuba's African population during the decades leading up to 1865. And that really does, and with regard to slavery bolts or speaking more broadly of the resistance of the enslaved, you have to incorporate a number of categories.
