Total control over the entire production rather than a film company kind of calling most of the shots as far as what he could do with the money that they were giving him. In this cut of Han and Leia's first kiss, it's important to note that their second kiss happens immediately thereafter and is initiated by Leia before the scene is interrupted by C3PO.
