Can You Prescribe Benzo-Diazapine for Insomnia?
Z drugs like Ambien or Lunesta or Sonata are really designed to be very short term, so helping you fall asleep. Benzo-Diazapine's like Ativan or Klonopin can be helpful if there's so much anxiety at night that it really interferes and again, we're trying to break that cycle. But I don't want that to be a long term choice for them because then we're dealing with the opposite side or the risks of those. There are some individuals that just have short sleep. They just can only get four or five hours. We've really worked on some of these other areas and they're just waking up after a shorter period
