The Black Panther Party
The book is about state violence and extractof practices since the black power and black radical movement in the sixties and seventies. Asada taught me as a lens for how to fight these forces, is kind of where the book ends in terms of the black panther party. The fact that she's from new york, that she was a rank and file party member, and obviously that she's a woman, this represents, i think, a transformation in how the party is remembered or understood.
