The Pros and Cons of a Flat Tax

High tax states subsidize lower income states is a product of having a highly progressive income tax and transfer system. So if the Democrats want to complain that there's this transfer from California to Louisiana or whatever, the solution is to have a flat tax that taxes everyone at the exact same rate but that's not politically popular either.
