Writing Memoirs Is Not What Gets You a Book Deal

I remember being told oh well if you don't have 20,000 followers on Instagram no point no one's going to publish you and reality wise if we're looking at the big five publishers that's the truth. What I focused on was not only looking for a publisher who held space for the kind of book I wanted to write but I made sure to do things like writing the essays doing blog posts. The time I spent writing essays is what contributed to Hazel and Jamie Lara at Book Hug seeing my story and seeing the value in it because when I first started writing I was writing like the writers I was reading so everything I read I was kind of imitating their voice.
