The Focus Is on Listening

The focus has got a shift from what can i say, how often can I say it, to what can i hear from my classmates? How can i make sure that everyone in this space feels like their being listened to? The adult world is really not gear towards listening. So i need not make assumptions that these kids know how to listen to each other before they come to my class. And i have to realize that it's not something i can punish my way into. "I take a skills based approach to listening," she says.
