Level 2 Plus is an eyes-on system, but it's plus because it's a hands-off system. It means the human driver need not be attentive and can even go to sleep behind the steering wheel. Outside of highways, say arterial roads or local roads, urban roads, the system is not activated. Once it reaches the edge of the ODD, it will stop safely on the shoulder of the road. And then just to finish this, and if there is a no driver, then there's a teleoperation. The teleoperation is not for safety-related issues, it's for non-safety.
Mobileye founder, president and CEO Amnon Shashua has proposed a new way to describe automated driving. Alex, Ed and Kirsten dig into the topic and make a few new discoveries along the way.
