In 1100, breakfast was the main meal of the day. By the Tudor times, it was sort of 11 or 12 o'clock. And so we are not showing any signs of shifting back to what was happening in the pre-industrial era. A large meal before you go to bed can produce gastric problems which can make it uncomfortable and therefore less likely to get off to sleep.
