The Basic Idea of the Enlightenment Is to Develop the Social Sciences Alongside the Natural Sciences

What i'm doing is treading a path parallel to paupers, and with an improved conception of scientific method. And then applying it to to social problems, problems of living. This whole idea really goes back to the eighteenth century enlightenment. I think that was the basic idea of the enlightenment, to a learn from scientific so about how to achieve social progress. That idea got developed frout the nineteenth century and then built into academia in the twentieth century. We still suffer from it to day, the idea that the proper task of academa is to acquire knowledge and then apply it, and not to give priority to our problems ofliving.
