Ibn Dawud too thinks that events in our earthly realm are caused by the heavenly motions. He speaks in rather astrological terms of the powers exercised by individual heavenly bodies. Unlike Ibn Ezra, Ibn Dawud frequently invokes the agent-intellect or giver of forms. It might look like Ibn Dawud has too many explanations on offer here. But as every Aristotelian knows, substances are combinations of matter and form.
