Speaker 3
And so every, my history of life, have I heard somebody say,
Speaker 1
and then I messed around. And got
Speaker 3
promoted. Yeah.
Speaker 1
I demote it. I've heard, demote it. I've heard fired. I never heard nobody messing around and getting promoted. And so that's, that's, that's from my perspective, because I will tell you that the happiest that I was in law enforcement, take the team out of the equation. The happiest that I was in law enforcement was when I was in jumpouts. Yeah. That was, that
Speaker 4
was an insane, you know, I
Speaker 1
would look at people
Speaker 4
that I worked with closely and I'd be like, I can't believe that we get paid to do this. Wow.
Speaker 1
That's how much. But then
Speaker 2
again, you know, I was a young gun. That's exactly right. Yeah. Absolutely. And so, you know, I can say that now. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4
So when I say I messed around and got promoted, yeah, that's when, you know,
Speaker 1
things took on a more serious nature for me. Yeah. It
Speaker 6
was more. All right.
Speaker 1
People are counting on me. Right. I'm responsible for things. Yeah. If somebody on my team or my squad or my
Speaker 1
screws up. Yeah. It's on me. Yeah. For sure.
Speaker 3
So the mindset's a little bit there. Man, I'm maturing. You know, I'm all with
Speaker 4
it. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but anyway,
Speaker 1
to make a long story longer, my, one of the sergeants left the team. And they put me in a, um, in a
Speaker 4
team leadership
Speaker 1
I could get on the phone again, but that wasn't my job. And like we talked about earlier, you know, it's important to train your folks up. That's right. Give them a marching orders. That's right. Let them know. Get out of their way. That's right. That's the position that I was in now.
Speaker 2
Yep. Did you enjoy it?
Speaker 1
Um, I enjoyed, um, the mentorship.
Speaker 4
The mentoring. Okay.
Speaker 1
I enjoyed the mentoring. I, I, I, I wanted. So let me, let me rewind this.
Speaker 1
um, way this works is you get promoted. And in my, I'm a detective. Right. I get promoted. You don't stay in that specialized assignment. You get, get back to the road. So I go from the detective bureau back to patrol division where I get a group of seven to eight officers.
Speaker 4
Um, and my job is
Speaker 1
to manage that. And one of the things that really irritated me when I was in patrol or in the detective bureau was the lack of quality in initial reporting by the patrol officer. So somebody breaks into your house.
