Is There Room for That?
In an ideal lesson, pupils would have a significant period of time where they were grappling with problems without my direct input. And that part of that ideal problem solving process would be the need for conscious reflection but also the ability to have that moment of satisfaction because they've made that connection themselves. So I'd be working back from this is the task that I want the children to engage in and struggle with. And then how do I then prepare them to have success on that while still having a legitimate problem solving experience? That might be looking at if the question is going to involve finding a midpoint, let's say, on a, of a rectangle to find a coordinate.
