Are Metaphors Trying to Cognitively Restructure Someone?
Sally McFag: I think for anybody who is skeptical of your false dichotomy between metaphor and literal, I think it was that point in the book where it crossed the border. She says there's a trend quote to view metaphors as cognitive instruments capable of changing the structure and the shape of the person's thought. McFag: In some way, if rituals kind of ritualize the person and create a new type of person by strategically changing a normal practice, could you say metaphors are trying to Cognitively restructure somebody by taking normal human language and metaphorizing it? Is there something like that going on?
