I see chapters one and two of Aristotle's politics as like the best summary of the whole system. He says, like, how are we going to understand this thing? Well, we have to look at its parts. How will they understand its parts? Well, let's look at how they naturally grow. For Aristotle, the state is not in a state, the city, the political association is not an artifact. It is a natural outgrowth; there was no sort of human association when he wrote it.
