Is There a Rational Element to the Need for More Housing?
There's widespread perception that building subsidized affordable housing nearer homes will drive down the property s of those homes. The evidence on that is that actually, building subsidizedordable housing does not drive down property values for nearby homes. I think also thaugh there is a more attenuated link between self interest and the need for more housing. But i would say that if you look at the east bay, where, again, i live, or in san francisco, of decades of consistent under building, it's really caused a lot of social and urban disorder including bad for home owners.
