The two became very close when milk was running to be the first openly gay elected official in san francisco. Othr notes were hidden in places so that harvey milk would find them long after he cut down his lover's body from where it was hanging. And within days of the funeral, harvey milk was already in a relationship with somebody new. He moved that guy into the apartment where his previous boy friend had just killed himself. The temple purchased hundreds of memberships in the local branch of the n a c p and used them to elect jim and one of his close followers to its board of directors.
