Gerasimov is known for an essay written in 2013 that was later coined as the Gerasimov doctrine. In 2000 words he described a state of modern hybrid warfare, which involved subversion methods. The influence of such thinking is arguably evident in Russia's own disinformation campaigns and meddling in foreign elections. He seems more of competent mediator between informed men and their civilian superiors back in Moscow.
