Paul takes the symbolic and mythic universe of Rome and subverts it. He shows that instead of being an eternal city, Rome turns out to be just another version of Babylon. The kingdom of Jesus is the real kingdom. And the peace of Jesus is secured by the sacrifice of Jesus, not his conquest.
