The Evolution of Kabbalah in Spain

The so-called contemplative or theosophical strand of Kabbalah developed in Provence but found its way into Spain. Isaac the Blind's students brought this Cephe Rotok theory to the Catalonian city of Garona at the beginning of the 13th century. From there, Kabbalistic ideas were taken up by a number of Spanish Jewish scholars.
